BeColouful Quilt with Custom Quilting

Jan 21, 2026

Today I am sharing how I custom quilted Gloria's Happiness quilt (pattern by BeColourful Quilts).  I was lucky enough to receive 3 or 4 of these in the mail from one of my favourite groups of quilters here in British Columbia.  These ladies took a class together and sent me their quilts!  I quilted them all a little differently, and this is Gloria's.

I also took the extra time to make two versions of this video, one super-long version in real time with minimal edits and another with commentary that goes a little quicker.  Here are the links to the video:

I did quilt these quilts last year, so I can't remember which order I quilted them in, but here is the sketch I came up with for Gloria's blue version.

Obiously if you've seen the video, you know that I didn't do anything close to my digital design and only took a few ideas from my dry-erase board sketches ðŸĪĢ.  I forgot to take a photo of the final drafts lol.

I always make sure to have a solid plan before I mount my quilts, and I do do some grid work on this one so you know I really did have a plan.

I love how these flying geese turned out.  I also really like the big, small pearl chain in the stopper border.  I mentioned in the video that if you really are struggling with making all the circles the same size, maybe give this a shot.

The gridwork background really looks good, and I'm happy I went with such a small grid; this way I didn't have to use a rule,r and I also don't have to fill in the design with any matchstick as the design is already pretty dense.  Also, it's a little hard to see in the video, but when I come around the big circle with the pearl chain, I use my water-soluble marker to draw in the rest of the circles so I make sure I can do some minor adjustments and make them fit.  Registration circles if you will.

I'm hoping to edit the footage from the other Happiness quilts to share hopefully sometime this spring.

On a personal note, I recently finished editing all of the videos over the past 6 months to update my design mini course!  I then had a computer glitch and lost all of the videos 😭ðŸ˜Đ😊I cannot express my devastation and frustration.  So, anyone who is waiting for this update, just know that I have started refilming and will do my best not to get too behind with life.  Thanks for reading.
