Ghost Quilting Series - Block 10
Aug 13, 2025
I love winter sports! Well, it's hard not to when growing up in Northern Canada. I was lucky enough to grow up on the ski hill with my dad being a ski patrol person (free ski passes 😉). But when I was raising my kids, we were living in Saskatchewan (the prairies) and didn't come back to BC (the mountains) until they were 10 years old. So they got a little bit of a later start, but luckily our school has a ski/snowboard requirement and both kids took to the hill like fish to water. I have so many wonderful memories of the ski hill, and I remember when snowboards first began to really become popular, so I thought I would include a snowboarder for my cousins who all swapped over... even though I still ski 😆.

For the mini border, I went with a piano key with a matchstick detail. This made me think about carving through fresh snow and leaving tracks 🏂. And for the background filler, I did a sorta hook loop design, I found this design fast and easy and a nice way to get a circle into a filler.
I know it's summer when I'm posting this, and summer is my favourite, but there is just something special about the mountain air and being on top of the world
This is our local little mountain, Pheinox.
