Ghost Quilting Series - Block 5
Jul 09, 2025
It's time to move back into these negative space blocks, and the Calgary Stampede is in full swing, so I'm going to stitch out a Bull Rider block today in honour of this awesome Canadian event. I grew up on a cattle ranch, and although I never rode a horse or bull in a ring, I sure got myself bucked off enough hoofed animals for one lifetime ððĪ ð.
Ghost Quiting Series Block 5 - VIDEO
Today is a two-for-one day. That's right, folks, I quilted this quilt block twice ðĪŠ. I started by quilting the mini border with the herringbone design and filling in the background with a micro stipple. Unfortunately, I found the block to be way too busy, and the bull rider was really lost in all the texture. So I ripped the whole thing out. Here it is before I ripped ðļ.
After going back to the drawing board, I decided to use a simple loop in the mini border and McTavish in the background... Looking at it now, I like it more, but I'm still not too happy with the results. I think the problem, honestly, lies with the ghost quitting. I think my bull rider may have too many fine details. Let me know what you think in the video comments.
Thanks so much for watching
