Grid Quilting Block 17

This week, I'm showing you how I stitch out this puzzle piece design. I have stitched this out before, but never really on a real quilt. I love how it looks with the matchstick filler. In my opinion, this really makes the design stand out.

I realize that we can't be stitching children's quilts with a ton of dense quilting, but I still think this would look good over a kids' quilt, or even a panel. Oh, imagine if you stitched this across a wildlife panel? I think that would be super fun and a neat way to stitch a panel. I have done just regular cross-hatching over a panel, but this could be really fun. One way it may be difficult is if the panel has a lot of contrast; you may need to use a water-soluble marker and a chalk pencil together to make the lines and dashes visible.

The nice thing about this design is that if you mess up the bumps, it doesn't matter because puzzles are random and should have a bit of that organic feel, eh! What is the biggest puzzle you've ever completed? I did a fun mystery puzzle this past winter. It is an Odd Pieces Puzzle, and it was super fun. Basically, you get the before photo as your puzzle guide, but the puzzle is what has happened after an event has occurred, so some things are a little different. It was fun because you had to guess what was going on and find little story lines within the animation. I am not affiliated in anyway I just enjoyed the puzzle. Here is a link to the website:
