Grid Quilting Block 2
Jun 10, 2026This week, I am sharing a design inspired by plaid. I love plaid (in case you hadn't noticed, I'm not sure if this is a 90's kid thing or a Canadian thing).

This design is pretty simple to execute, but you do have to be consistent with your line spacing. After you stitch your first line, always do your echo on the same side of that line for each and every line; your square plaid will end up looking all wonky. Once you finish stitching out all of these lines, you could totally leave this design as is. But I like to come in with a matchstick in the narrow lines and really add some definition and dimension to the design. I've used this design a lot in the past, usually within blocks, but it looks fabulous in the background too, like lattice work with applique flowers.

Would it maybe be fun to experiment with this and maybe fill in the larger squares with a matchstick or even add in another thin line to the plaid lines? I don't know, let me know what you think in the comments below the video. Thanks for watching.
