Grid Quilting Block 9

I call this design Grid Wave, and it is the first free motion design of this series that I don't hate! This isn't a new design, but it is the first time I've ever stitched it on such a large scale before. Being on this scale really allowed me to add quite a few extra lines than I normally do when I stitch on the smaller grid. If you have struggled with this design in the past, try drawing out the first couple of rows to help get you into a groove. It becomes quite meditative once you get going.

I think this design would look its absolute best with double batting or a high-loft batting. Most of these designs would look best with double batting, but this one in particular would really allow for those centers to pop.

It's been a long time since I tried this design, and it did take some control to keep the bumps reasonably consistent, but as you see in the video, by the end, it didn't matter too much. That's why stitching the foundation first is really the key here; you can use the echo lines to modify the shape later if you need to.
