Mondern Feather Quilting Block 7 Title

This quilt block took quite a lot of marking.  I have mentioned this before but I'll say it again, I love and almost exclusively use blue water-soluble markers.  I mostly use one by Kering but almost any blue water-soluble pen will work.  The technology isn't new and I haven't had any real trouble.  When I do need to mark a darker fabric I use a mechanical chalk pencil in white or pink.

Here is my first attempt at this block on the scrappy pieced version of this quilt that I made.

I actually really like this block and other than the ribbon candy design I think this is pretty modern actually.  So I only modified the plan a little.

And the final stitch out.

Longarm quilting for customers can be very stressful and it is important to know your tools well and that is why I always stick to the same marking tools over and over.

I love how these quilted feather motifs bump into one another.  Adding a little pearl to the open spaces helps to fill the area.  Here is a link to the panel and free quilt pattern if you haven't picked one or the other up yet.

On a personal note, my husband and I have spent the whole of Spring building out our very own camping van.  I've always been a big camper/outdoors person, and I have always slept in a tent and cooked over a proper fire.  But with the kids getting older and venturing out on their own I have no camping buddy (Jeremy isn't into sleeping on the ground for fun).  So I conceded to building a van.  We took "The Golden Spruce" out on a maiden voyage... I was wrong, the van is way more comfortable than I could ever have imagined.  We got to camp, took out our chairs... and we were there.  I'm excited about this new chapter.

Happy Stitching!
