Qulit Block Series Modern Style 7

Okay I know I might be saying that this block is my favourite every week, but comon! This one is cool. It took me quite a lot of doodling to come up with this idea.  But I'll tell you a secret... I accidentally put the pearl chain in the wrong line (d'oh!), But that's the beauty of quilting, if I never told you, you would never have known!

Here is a link to the YouTube Video:

Here is the concept I started with, see how different it looks!

When I first drew this I knew it was the 'goto' move for this block.  So when it was time to actually start stitching I decided to go back to the drawing board, and by that I mean a piece of plexiglass.  I lay the glass over the quilt top and use a dry-erase marker to doodle, it's a very effective low-tech design tool.  You can find a scrap of glass at your local glass shop.

In the video you will notice that I marked the circles in the points, I do that as a reference so I can gauge how big or small I need to adjust my circles leading up to the points to make it all fit perfectly. This technique really helps when you are learning.  Here are some of the FAQ's

The machine is an older Handi Quilter Avante with a stitch regulator.

I am using Glide Thread in the colour white.

The marking pen I use is a Kering blue water-soluble marker (any blue one will do).

I used my Rocket Ruler by Silly Moon Quilt Co. and my BFF from the Quilted Pineapple

Happy Quilting!
